Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

We will discuss this more in person, as it is important that you know your rights. The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission. This is known as confidentiality, or client/therapist rights.

In the following cases, I (and any other therapist) must break confidentiality by reporting to the appropriate authority:
  • Suspected child, dependent adult, or elder abuse;
  • A client who is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s;
  • A client who intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety;
  • Consultation with a very small group of therapists (bound by confidentiality) to give you the best possible care;
  • Reporting information in court proceedings, including suits filed against me by you.
